I am currently creating out of my home studio in Ashland, Oregon. “Necessity is the mother of invention” is my background in ceramics. I was fortunate enough to build my first home next door to ceramic artists, Lilli Ann & Marvin Rosenberg, who graciously invited me into their studio and taught me how to make tile for my new home. From there my good fortune continued with more potter/neighbors, Dennis Meiners and Leslie Lee, (meinersandlee.com) who were teaching and hosting world class artists in their gorgeous straw bale studios in the Applegate Valley. There I learned about sculpture and functional ware in small workshop settings. They say the best way to learn something is to teach it so I taught ceramics to kids for the next 7 years. Fun! My current project is my largest sculpture to date. A house made of clay! Well, and wood and a few other necessary materials, but mainly clay. See “interior design” tab for photos of the house.
